Exciting Updates from Northern Flights Disc Golf

We’re proud to announce that Northern Flights Disc Golf has given our first Diamond Award to Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation, for our grant of over $2,000! Full details will be shared once financial statements are released at the end of the month.

We’ve also secured our official domain: northernflightsdiscgolf.com, allowing us to grow our outreach and improve our online presence.

Our YouTube channel now features four video reels, and we’ll soon be recovering our disc golf baskets that were left behind during the wildfire evacuation.

With the support from our grant, we’re still moving forward with our plans for the Traveling Disc Golf Wellness Tour. Once we return home, we’ll assess the situation and determine next steps for local leagues and events.

Pride Month: United as Disc Golfers, Respecting All People

June is Pride Month. A time to celebrate diversity, inclusion, and the freedom for everyone to be their true selves. At the end of the day, we're all disc golfers first, united by our love for the game and the community it builds. No matter who you are or who you love, you’re welcome on the course. Let’s continue to respect and support one another, on and off the fairway.

Important Notice: The Flin Flon Spring League is cancelled until Further Notice

In light of the recent mandatory evacuation order issued for Flin Flon due to the ongoing wildfire and the associated safety risks, we have to cancel the 2025 Flin Flon Spring League. The health and well-being of our players and their families must take priority during this emergency. We extend our deepest gratitude to the brave firefighters, emergency responders, and support personnel who continue to work around the clock to protect our community. Your courage, dedication, and selflessness are truly appreciated. Please follow all official evacuation instructions and safety advisories from local authorities. We will monitor conditions closely and hope to return to the course when it is safe for everyone. Stay safe, and thank you for your understanding and support.

Traveling Popup Disc Golf Course

Details: It’s Official! We’re thrilled to share that the project is moving forward! We have received our 9 MVP Black Hole HD baskets through Disc Republic and are proud to announce that we’ll be receiving a grant from SaskEnergy to help make it happen. Special thanks to Gardewine for thier donation.

Our First popup course location will be at the Flin Flon Ski Hill on June 14, 2025. Discussions are underway with the Village of Denare Beach, and we’re actively reaching out to other nearby communities to bring the excitement of disc golf to even more locations. Stay tuned for updates as this exciting project unfolds!

Back on April 1, 2025, we launched a fun April Fools' joke: Mario Disc Golf 64. It was only live for 12 hours, but it definitely made an impression. Since then, we've received tons of emails asking how to play it again... So by popular demand, it's back (for now)! Enjoy!

Get ready for an exciting day of disc golf action in The Pas, Manitoba! The NADGT Canada Exclusive: Devon Park - Presented by Innova is set for Saturday, June 7, 2025, bringing top amateur players together for a PDGA C-tier competition. Hosted by the National Amateur Disc Golf Tour, this tournament is part of the NADGT 2025 Season and promises a fantastic experience for players looking to compete, improve their game, and have fun. Whether you're chasing points, prizes, or just a great day on the course, Devon Park will be the place to be!

Our First Board Meeting

We’re thrilled to announce that Northern Flights Disc Golf Inc. held its first board meeting on April 17, 2025. The board discussed our vision for the future, and we’re excited to share the progress we’ve made. Here are some key highlights from the meeting:

• Course Development: We’re working on plans for new courses in Denare Beach/ Creighton, SK.
• Community Engagement: Our upcoming spring league in Flin Flon, MB will be our first event .
• Fundraising Efforts: We discussed ways to raise funds for future projects, including hosting tournaments, partnering with local businesses, applying for grants.

We are excited for the future and can't wait to continue working together to grow the sport of disc golf!
